Angela R. Godin was born in Pasadena, California and eventually moved back to Pennsylvania. She is a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and currently, finishing her Master of Science in Arts Administration and Museum Leadership from Drexel University. Angela holds the senior leadership role of Executive Director to the Community Arts Center of Cambria County. Her background and understanding of fine and contemporary arts, crafters, and performance art have been vital for this position. As Executive Director, Angela has demonstrated skilled management in the not-for-profit arts sector areas of event planning, fundraising, performing arts productions, organizational development, organization turnaround, program management, marketing, grant writing, and social media campaigns. She has also demonstrated her development skills through Capital Campaign organizing and a $2.6 million building project.
Angela’s creative mindset of developing unique and innovative programming derives from her heavily influenced performing arts background, which gives her the ability to set forth prospects to serve the underserved populations, minorities, religious groups, handicapped, and senior citizens of Cambria County through community outreach. Her tenacious drive is an admirable leadership quality that has helped her to grow her organization over the last eight years, financially by doubling annual revenue and through public response in community engagement. This expansion has proved beneficial for not only the organization, but the ability of local, regional, state, and out of state artists to become more financially prosperous. In her eight years with the Community Arts Center, she has sizably increased every preexisting event or fundraiser, while venturing into vast new areas of artistic opportunities. Her use of promotional skills has allowed her to engage the community in a large cross section of diverse marketing strategies, reaching demographics far past the Cambria County region.
(And even through the COVID-19 pandemic, Angela was able to maintain the organization’s financial health and programming. This includes staff wages, hiring new staff, a capital campaign, a capital building project, and transitioning to digital interfaced programs; while keeping all staff employed.)
Angela worked as an independent contractor in art related fields for over eleven years. This experience included directing numerous plays and musicals, performing in close to thirty productions, as well as vast experience in choreography, stage-managing, lighting design, sound design, and production management and administration. Her repertoire is comprised of directing theatre festivals, studio theatre projects, acting camps, and training seminars, as well as teaching theatre courses to all ages. Angela has instructed dance for over seventeen years: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre dance, waltz, foxtrot, tango, salsa, merengue, rumba, cha cha, swing, jitterbug, hustle, slow dance, bachata, and jive. Her dance training and/or instructing continues as she expands her dance portfolio with professional dance instructors across the nation.
In her spare time, you can find Angela stage-managing productions or performing in local theatrical groups, volunteering her choreography skills, or directing plays and musicals. Other volunteer efforts include the Vision 2025 Marketing Committee, judge and/or Emcee for Beginnings Inc. Dancing Like a Star Benefit fundraiser, a committee member and/or volunteer for fundraiser which benefits the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center, serving dinner to the underserved, along with volunteering as an instructor and outreach dance teacher. Currently, she on the board of trustees for the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center, and Conemaugh Miners Medical Center.
In 2018, she was accepted into the National Arts Marketing Project Cohort 2, a two-year program comprised of trainings and seminars in arts marketing through Americans for the Arts. Angela was the Arts & Letters honoree for the 2019 YWCA Tribute to Women, as well as being selected for the PA Business Central's Top 100 People of 2020.
